Macmillan Coffee Morning
Year 4 are really excited about the Macmillan Coffee Morning this Friday 9am in the school hall. We have been busy baking this week and we hope that lots of you will be able to come. If you have been busy baking this week too, please bring any cakes to the office on Thursday or straight to the hall on Friday morning. Remember to send 20p if the children would like to buy a cake in the afternoon.
Learning to Read at Swallowfield
I will be holding an information meeting for Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 parents on Wednesday 4th October at 9am in the school hall to explain our policies and strategies for teaching reading at school. I will make any presentations and handouts available following the meeting if you are unable to attend.

‘Basic Skills’ Quality Mark
A big congratulations to staff in Busy Bees and Foundation who have succeeded in obtaining the ‘Basic Skills Quality Mark’ for Early Years, an award that celebrates and supports continuous improvement in English, Maths and Computing.
It was awarded to our school on Monday to recognise the provision, practice and performance across the curriculum in both settings.
They demonstrated an excellent approach to improving standards even further, with evidence of the impact of its approaches.
Well done.
