Swallowfield Busy Bees Pre -School
Swallowfield Busy Bees is your local pre-school and has been established for over 30 years. We are fully integrated into the main school and positively support the transition into Swallowfield Primary.
Places are available for children aged 2 years until they start school at 4 years and older and move into our Reception classes.
Most children move from Busy Bees to Swallowfield Primary (please contact the school direct for the school admissions policy).
We are proud to announce that our Pre-Reception transition sessions are starting up again in January 2024. This gives all children the opportunity who will be joining Swallowfield Primary Reception class in September 2023 the opportunity to experience an afternoon of more formal learning in preparation for school life. The sessions are led by the current Reception teachers. During the Spring term children go to the Learning Lodge and focus on early phonics and number skills. Throughout the summer term the Reception teachers explore the main school and complete different activities so that all children joining school feel comfortable and prepared in our main school environment eg share books together on the school bus and complete PE activities on the sports field.
We are very proud of our OFSTED inspection reports, which are available upon request.
Central Bedfordshire’s Childcare Development Team and their Early Years Advisory Team support Swallowfield Busy Bees.
Principles
- Every child is a unique child, who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self assured.
- Children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships.
- Children learn and develop well in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to their individual needs and there is a strong partnership between practitioners and parents and/or carers.
- Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates
The framework we follow covers the education and care of all children in Early Years Provision, including children with special educational needs and disabilities.
