Safeguarding
Swallowfield Primary is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. It is the expectation that all staff and volunteers share this commitment.
We fully recognise the contribution we can make to protect children and support pupils in our school.
Our key aims are to ensure;
- All of our pupils are safe and protected from harm,
- Other elements of provision and policies are in place to enable pupils to feel safe and adopt safe practices;
- Staff, pupils, governors, visitors, volunteers and parents are aware of the expected behaviours and the school’s legal responsibilities in relation to the safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all of our pupils.
Safeguarding is everybody’s responsibility and we are committed to ensuring that all our children are safe and feel safe, ensuring that children, parents/carers and staff are able to talk about safeguarding concerns and feel they are listened to and ensuring that all staff and volunteers are aware and understand the safeguarding procedures including what to do if they suspect a child may be experiencing, or be at risk of harm.
Any issue relating to child protection should be referred to either:
- Kim Brewer (Headteacher) – Designated Safeguarding lead
- Greg McGill (Deputy Headteacher) – Deputy Designated safeguarding lead
- Our Safeguarding Officer is Kirsten Garratt (Pastoral Lead)
- Governor responsible for Safeguarding- Andrew Guntert- Chair of Governors
Please do not hesitate to speak to them if you have any concerns about a child. We will make sure somebody is available immediately to speak to you.
Any case of suspected abuse will be monitored and will be referred to the Children’s Services at Central Bedfordshire Council.
