Waste Week Is Underway!
After our ‘Clean for the Queen’ to celebrate her 90th birthday, the children throughout the school managed to fill a skip full of litter and rubbish collected from around the school grounds and the neighbouring area.
Meanwhile, this years Eco-Committee dug up the results of last years committee’s landfill experiment. They had buried a wide range of materials to see what happened to them over the year as if they were in a landfill. We discovered why some of the materials in rubbish we found can be such a problem even after a year!
On Wednesday, the whole school will be involved in Waste Day, when we will be looking at ways to tackle waste, how we can reduce, reuse or recycle instead. Hopefully with lots of interesting activities to help us learn and remember.
Swallowfield Spelling Challenge
We have had an amazing day of spellings, quizzes and fun. The children have really enjoyed taking part in all of the challenges today and and we are very proud of all their hard work and effort. They will all have brought home their results so any sponsorship money can be collected and a certificate of participation.
In addition to the spelling challenge each year group has participated in an Inter-House quiz and I am pleased to announce the winners in each year group:
Foundation Kingfishers
Year 1 Woodpeckers
Year 2 Robins
Year 3 Woodpeckers
Year 4 Goldfinches
The overall winners were Woodpeckers.
Well done to everyone who took part and thank you for your continued support and encouragement.

Swallowfield Annual Spelling Challenge
Don’t forget tomorrow is the spelling challenge. All of the children will participate in the challenge tomorrow and there will also be an Inter-House spelling quiz in each year group. It is not necessary to bring sponsorship money tomorrow as this can be collected after they have taken part in the challenge.
We hope the children have fun with their spellings!
